Selfish Hare and Crocodile

Once there lived a hare alone in an island. After a long time, the hare had a desire [ইচ্ছা করা] to go to another island. But it could not swim and the other island was far away. So, he felt sorry for himself. One day he came to the seashore and saw a crocodile there. The hare asked the crocodile if he could ask the crocodile a question. The crocodile gave the permission happily. The hare asked that how to swim. If he showed him how to swim from this side to other side then he would be rewarded. The crocodile agreed but he also added that how he could show it without carrying the hare. The hare got on the back of the crocodile. The crocodile started to swim. When he reached the other side of the river, the hare jumped and reached the other side of the river. The crocodile wanted his reward but the hare told that “I needed to come to this side. I have come and you may go now.” After saying this the hare went away.
