Dialogue about the bad effects of illiteracy

bad effects of illiteracy

Myself
Hi, Nasir, how are you?
Nasir
I am fine. And you?
Myself
I am fine too. May I know your opinion about. illiteracy?
Nasir
Yes. It is a great problem as well as a curse [অভিশাপ] for the country.
Myself
How?
Nasir
Well, you see currently about 40% of whole population is still illiterate. And it’s causing a huge problem in our society. And without education, no nation can develop as ignorance creates many other problems too.
Myself
What kind of problem?
Nasir
Well, the development of our country is getting hampered [বাধাগ্রস্ত] because of the huge number of illiterate people.
Myself
How? Would you please explain?
Nasir
Yes, of course. You see, literate people understand how to build up their life. They abide by social rules and regulations. Educated people understand how to contribute [অবদান] to the development of our country while illiterate people become a burden [ভার] to the society.
Myself
How can we eradicate illiteracy from our country?
Nasir
First of all, people should be made aware [সচেতন] if the importance of literacy. As primary education is already compulsory, people should be inspired [অনুপ্রাণিত] to go for higher education.
Myself
What else can we do?
Nasir
More free schools and colleges should be established by the government. Hopefully, the number of literate people will grow a lot by these steps.
Myself
I hope that, too. Anyway, see you later.
Nasir
Good bye.
