The 7th March Speech of Bangabandhu was a speech given by
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding [প্রতিষ্ঠা] father of Bangladesh on 7th March 1971 at the Ramna Race
Course in Dhaka to a gathering [জড়ো] of over two million people. It was delivered [প্রদান করা] during a period of escalating [ধাপে ধাপে বৃদ্ধি হত্তয়া] tensions [উত্তেজনা] between East Pakistan and the powerful
political and military establishment of West Pakistan. He announced [ঘোষণা] a civil disobedience [অবাধ্যতা] movement in the province, calling in every house to turn into a fortress
[দুর্গ]. The speech inspired [অনুপ্রাণিত] the Bengali people to prepare for a war of independence amid [মধ্যে] widespread [ব্যাপক] reports of armed mobilisation [সৈন্য সমাবেশ] by West Pakistan. The Bangladesh Liberation War began 18 days later,
when the Pakistani Army launched [আরম্ভ] Operation Searchlight against Bengali civilians, intelligentsia [বুদ্ধিজীবি], students, politicians, and armed
personnel. On 30th October 2017, UNESCO added the speech in it’s the
Memory of the World Register as a “documentary heritage”. This day highlighted
[উল্লেখ] on the necessity of permanent solution for the long-repressed [দীর্ঘ-দমন] people. Besides, it solidified [ঘনীভূত হত্তয়া] and justified [ন্যায্যতা প্রতিপাদন করা] the stance [অবস্থান] of Bengal to go to war to ensure [নিশ্চিত] independence [স্বাধীনতা]. It won’t be exaggeration [অতিরঞ্জিত] to say that the very directives [নির্দেশনা] motivations [প্রণোদন] and final determination [সংকল্প] of that day made it possible to see the golden sun of independence.
Thus, as a memorable day, it takes permanent [স্থায়ী] place in the history of Bangladesh. This
speech will continue to rekindle [পুনঃপ্রজ্জ্বলিত করা] the Bangali nation with a spark [স্ফুলিঙ্গ] of fire, show the path of realizing the mundane [পার্থিব] truths and provide [প্রদান] political direction to emancipation [মুক্তি] of us.
