Arsenic poisoning or arsenicosis is a condition [অবস্থা] caused by the ingestion [গ্রহণ] and inhalation [প্রশ্বাস] of dangerous levels of arsenic. Arsenic,
a grey-appearing chemical element, can be found as a contaminant [সংক্রামক] in food and water sources. It typically
[সাধারণত] occurs as a result of industrial exposure [প্রভাবাধীন করা], from contaminated wine or illegally
distilled spirits, or in cases of malicious [দূষিত] intent [অভিনিবিষ্ট].
When a man drinks arsenic contaminated water for a long term, his skin
is coarsened [অমসৃণ] and stained [দাগী]. On time he suffers from gangrene. It is such a poison that damages all
the vital [অত্যাবশ্যক] organs [অঙ্গ] resulting in the subsequent death. Those who do not eat fish and
vegetables are easily affected. The arsenic affected patients should be
properly treated. They should drink arsenic free water and take vitamins A, C,
E to come round. People should be made very conscious [সচেতন] of the problems of arsenic and arsenic diseases. Our tube-wells are to
be tested and those which are not free from arsenic should be identified [চিহ্নিত করা]. The water of pond and river can be drunk
after purification [বিশুদ্ধ]. Rain water is safe and free from arsenic. If pure water is not found,
it should be filtered through pitchers containing sand. The govt. as well as
the common mass should take some effective steps to solve this kind of problem.
