Victory means the rebuilt [পুনঃগঠন] of self-immolation [বলিদান] of 30 lacs people. The 16th
December is the victory Day of Bangladesh. This day reminds us of the supreme
sacrifice of our freedom fighters who will ever shine in our hearts like the luminous
[উজ্জ্বল] stars in the sky. It is a red letter day
in our national calendar of Bangladesh. In 1971, Bangladesh discloses [জানান] herself as a new country and gets a place in the world map. The
occupation forces surrendered unconditionally [নিঃশর্তভাবে] to the allied forces, and with their
surrender we got our victory. It is a government holiday. The national flag is
hosted in all important offices, buildings, institutions and shops. All the
important places are tastefully decorated. Meetings and seminars are held to explain
[ব্যাখ্যা] the importance of the day. On this day we
pay rich tributes [শ্রোদ্ধাঞ্জলি] to the memory of the day. People from all
walks of life irrespective [নির্বিশেষ] of ages, castes [জাতি] and creeds [ধর্মবিশ্বাস] celebrate Victory Day with huge [বিশাল] enthusiasm [উৎসাহ] and inspiration [অনুপ্রেরণা]. Different cultural [সাংস্কৃতিক] organizations hold various programmes and
bring out colourful rallies to mark the day. Radio and television broadcast
special programmes, and newspapers publish special supplementary on this day.
The parks, museums etc. remain crowded from dawn to
dusk with lots of people enjoying their time. We pray to almighty Allah for the
martyrs [শহীদ] of our liberation war. The victory day
symbolizes the triumph [সাফল্য] of justice over tyranny [অত্যাচার], of truth over falsehood. So, the 16th
December is a very important day in the history of Bangladesh.
