Causes and Effects of Road Accident

Causes and Effects of Road Accident

Road transport in Bangladesh is very popular for various reasons, but the condition of Bangladesh roads is very poor. The rate at road-accidents and fatality [ভয়াবহতা] in the country is very high. Pressure on roads has been on increase and the number of vehicles is increasing by leaps and bounds. Overloading is one of the major factors of road- accidents and deaths. Driving licenses are given on illegal gratifications [তুষ্টি] of the authorities and traffic rules and regulations are thrown to the winds. Lack of road-sense has further complicated [জটিল] the matters. The condition of the vehicles is hardly found road-worthy. Drug-abuse and addiction by drivers is another major cause of accidents. The ever increasing use of mobile phones has posed a new challenge to road-safety. Immediate and effective steps should be taken to check the ever increasing number of road-accidents and death. The effects of road accident can be anything from a dent to death. To prevent [প্রতিরোধ] these accidents, it is imperative [বাধ্যতামূলক] that effective long and short term measures are immediately taken. Roads should be properly maintained and looked after. There should be multi-lane roads wherever necessary. There should be separate tracks for slow moving vehicles from those of fast and very fast moving vehicles. There should be an effective check on speed of the vehicles. Violation [লঙ্ঘন] of traffic rules should be strictly dealt with. Grant of driving licenses and permits to vehicles should be properly streamlined. Those driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol should be given exemplary [দৃষ্টান্ত] punishment and their licenses cancelled. Thus we can minimize the road accident.
