The Magpie Robins
are mostly known in Bangladesh as the Doel. The Doel, the national bird of
Bangladesh, is a very charming [মনোহর] and beautiful bird. The colour
of the male bird is a combination [সমাহার] of black and white. Whereas
the females look similar to the males, with the difference being that the
females are greyer, with greyish-white under parts. They are also dissimilar in
the fact that they keep their tails up in the air, which moves while they sing.
Doel is small in size and unpredictable [অনিশ্চিত] in movement. In the
countryside area of Bangladesh Doel is frequently seen. One of the brightest
features of the Doel is that it has a delightful [আনন্দদায়ক] whistle. The Doel does not
fly very high and likes to stay close to the ground. It feeds on insects. The
Doel is a very bashful [লাজুক] bird that only
grows to just about nineteen centimetres from head to tail. Doel, as it is the
national bird of Bangladesh so we have seen their presence in different aspects.
For example, it is seen in currencies, in different creations even it is
present in some popular songs.
