Eve Teasing

Though eve teasing prevailed [প্রচলিত হত্তয়া] in the society one or two decades ago, it has spread its ugly claws [থাবা] very recently. This venom [বিষ] has claimed [দাবি] the lives of Simi, Trisha, Tonni, Swapana, Tithi, Rumi and many other girls. They thought it better to leave the world rather than living with the trauma [মর্মান্তিক দুর্ঘটনা] of harassment [হয়রানি].

When the girls cannot move freely in the school, market and on the footpath due to throwing filthy [নোংরা] words, lustful [কামাসক্ত] and languishing look by males is known as eve teasing. These tasks of males make the females psychologically [মানসিকভাবে] weak and disturbed. The obscene [অশ্লীল] films and dances of the heroines and the co-actresses titillate [উদ্দীপ্ত করা] the boys. They try to provoke [প্ররোচিত] the girls wherever and whenever possible.

The loose family ties and lack of moral [নৈতিক] education encourage [উৎসাহ] the youths to spend time more on obscene things rather than study and gaining knowledge. So, emphasis [জোর] should be given on strong family ties and moral education. The family which show love and affection [স্নেহ] among the members has the little chance of children going astray [বিভ্রান্ত]. A child learns first from a family member before he or she goes to school. If the child picks up the right habits and values, it will be reflected [প্রতিফলিত] throughout his life or her life.

Eve teasing is a crime. We cannot afford [ঝুঁকি নেওয়া] to look at it with compromising [আপোষ করা] mind and attitude [মনোভাব]. The big political parties particularly [বিশেষ করে], the party in power should play big roles to curb [দমন করা] it. Our government has designated [মনোনীত] June 13 as ‘Eve Teasing Protection Day’. It’s a good initiative [উদ্যোগ].

Eve teasing is definitely [অবশ্যই] a kind of mental sickness. It pollutes not only the eve teasers but also the growing female members of the society. We must stop it at any cost.
