Birthday Party

The day, in which a man is born, is celebrated [পালিত] as birthday to make it memorable [স্মরণীয়]. In our country rich people are seen to celebrate this day in festivity [উৎসব]. In this day, the drawing room is beautifully decorated. Friends, relatives, well-wishers are invited on this occasion. A special cake is ordered for celebrating this day. Besides, different kinds of delicious [উপাদেয়] dishes are prepared. At the appointed [নির্দিষ্ট] time the invited guests begin to come and are welcomed by the person for whom the day is being celebrated. At the appointed time the person concerned merrily [সানন্দে] cuts the cake. A round of applause [হাত তালি] follows. Plates full of delicious food items are then handed around. Everybody falls to with a good deal of zest [প্রাণবন্ততা]. The eating is accompanied [সঙ্গে] by a lot of talking and giggling [মুখ চাপিয়া হাসা]. Camera is clicked on. After the meal, jokes may be made. Then the presents given by the invited guests may be unpacked one by one. And the person concerned expresses [প্রকাশ] his or her gratitude [কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ] to the guests. And the party may be rounded off with a chorus [সমস্বরে উচ্চারিত ধ্বনি] “Happy birthday to you”.
