Cricket is my favourite game. Cricket is one of the most popular games all over the world. It is an outdoor and costly game. Though it is the national game of England, it is now popular internationally.

Cricket is played between two teams, each containing eleven players. It is mainly played in England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa but is now spreading [ছড়ানো] to other countries like Zimbabwe, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, USA etc.

The game of cricket needs two teams of which each team has eleven players. It needs a big ground to play. Bats, balls and two sets of stumps are also needed. Two umpires conduct [পরিচালনা] the game.

At the beginning of the match, a toss is adopted to select a fielding group and a batting group. The batsman may be out in many ways. He may be bowled out, run out, stumped out and caught out.

When a bowler bowls, a batsman hits the ball away and changes position with his partner before the ball is received at the wickets. Thus, one run is scored. If the ball crosses the boundary line, four runs are made. If it flies over the boundary line, six runs are scored. After interval, the fielding group comes to bat and the batting group goes to field for fielding. The team that scores more runs wins the game. The duration [সময়কাল] of the game depends [নির্ভর করে] on the fall of wicket or completion of the over.

Thousands of people see it being played on the pitch while million others watch it on their TV sets. Cricket stars become heroes of the public.

I like cricket the most because it is an open air game played in a very wide field and gives me an opportunity [সুযোগ] to develop my health and skill of cooperation [সহযোগিতা], team spirit, handwork, and fair play. It also helps in developing strength, stamina [সহনশক্তি], endurance [ধৈর্য্য] and sportsmanship. It also helps in bringing out the best of a player.

It requires a lot of patience [ধৈর্য্য], concentration [একাগ্র], right judgment, application of mind and full dedication [নিষ্ঠা] besides cooperation [সহযোগিতা] and team spirits.

Cricket teaches the players how to be helpful, kind and charitable [দানশীল] to others. The true spirits of cricket is that of fair play, justice, selflessness, discipline, and struggle and never to admit defeat.

A good cricket player can face any odds cheerfully and take victory and defeat in strides [উদ্যোগ]. Victory and defeat are the part of game. The game of cricket brings the sense and spirits of fair play into practice.

Cricket is my favourite game because of its much charm and importance. It makes me thrilled when I watch it. Really, it is a game after my heart.
